After Peacock Room is a dimly lit restaurant in Georgetown with long wooden dining tables, and smaller, booth countertops hanging from the ceiling. The space features black walls and blue and green furnishings throughout.

The After Peacock Room is one of our favorite restaurants in Georgetown. To get some water views on your way to dinner, walk along Rock Creek, which has trails situated all around it. The restaurant is located within walking distance of the Dumbarton House and Embassy Row for those who want to get a taste for the city’s rich culture.

What to Try

Begin your meal at the After Peacock Room with one of its many inspired appetizers. The lemon marinated hamachi is a dynamic and memorable option with pickled vegetables and pesto on an olive oil crostini. They also serve charcuterie and cheese boards curated by the chef.

Moving into the main course, there will always be favorable seasonable options. In the fall they offer a delightful roasted butternut squash risotto with oyster mushrooms, sage and smoked gouda. A home run evergreen option is the 7 Spices Braised Short Ribs, which come with piquillo pepper, roasted fingerling potatoes, pearl onion and Bordelaise sauce.

Close things out with the deletable After Peacock Room Macaron, served with vanilla ice cream, brandied cherries and pistachios.
