What could be better than spending a day out in the sun drinking some of the best beers in the world? Not much. Local beer and wine festival Summerfest DC is coming back to its home at the Fairgrounds this June. While the focal point of this get together is most definitely the beer, which is chosen by Summerfest’s highly trained beer czar, the festival will also feature wine, cider, food, games and live music.
Summerfest DC offers patrons unlimited tasting of over 100 beers from around the world. And while most craft beer events are associated mostly with full bodied IPA’s, Summerfest works for all types of beer drinkers as well, letting visitors sample everything from small-batch local craft beers to hard-to-find international brews. With options like the light and airy Summer Honey Wheat from Blue Moon, the dark and rich People’s Porter from Foothills Brewery, and the unique Oatmeal IPA from New Belgium, discerning palates will find scores of tempting beers at this year’s Summerfest.
Featuring a sizable stage for live music, plenty of space for food vendors and dancing, and a an accessible location by DC’s Navy Yard Metro stop, Fairgrounds is an ideal location for Summerfest. The event’s DJ’s and bands will fill out the Fairgrounds with great tunes, while patrons can sip beers and wines while taking part in crowd-pleasing games like giant jenga and cornhole.
Thousands of people getting together to try great beer and relax in the heat of the early summer sun, Summerfest will undoubtedly be a killer time. Food vendors are still to be announced, but interested parties can learn more about the wine, cider and gluten-free craft beer options on the event website here.
