St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, which means that anybody who will be in Washington DC on March 21st should look forward to a celebration unlike any other. According to its website, “ShamrockFest is America’s largest St. Paddy’s Day celebration.”
This wild celebration takes place at the spacious and accommodating RFK Stadium Grounds, adjacent to the field on which the District’s own Washington Nationals play their home games.
Sidestepping the traditional parade approach, ShamrockFest is an all-out experiential party filled with music, contests, food, beer, performances, shopping, games and more. With everybody dressed in green and feeling excited, this is a can’t-miss event for Washington DC denizens and visitors alike.
At the center of it all is a day’s worth awesome concerts performed by big name artists across five different stages. The 90s Ska sensation Reel Big Fish will headline the event alongside a long list of Irish bands and DJs. In addition to these well-known acts, there will also be an extensive string of Irish performers sharing their skills throughout the day. Visitors can excitedly expect some professional bagpipe playing and Irish step dancing.
In addition to all of the entertainment at ShamrockFest, there will also be a day’s worth of partying. The Irish Market will be well-stocked with St. Paddy’s Day attire like kilts and green hats along with a slew of other Irish-themed goodies. The festival will feature renowned food vendors and plenty of St. Patrick’s Day’s most prized drink: beer! With all of these wonderful amenities, potential visitors can also count on an excited and fun crowd. With thousands expected to be in attendance, all dawning green and all in great holiday spirits, the energy at the event will be absolutely electric.
The large-scale festival approach ShamrockFest sets it apart from major celebrations in other cities and we couldn’t be more excited about it. To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day right, check out ShamrockFest in Washington DC this March.
